When sports is being mentioned, it’s either basketball or volleyball that comes to people’s mind often. This time, an extraordinary yet interesting sport will make you want to give it a try this summer. People mistakenly call it “Spikeball” which is a brand of the sport but it’s actually called Roundnet.

Roundnet is just like volleyball. It is played with 2 teams which consists of 2 players each. Both teams have only 3 touches to return the ball to the opposing team (players can hit with any part of their body and can return the ball during any of their touches). But unlike volleyball, instead of going over the net, the ball must hit through the net to make it bounce and be passed on to your teammate or opponent.

Players use a trampoline-like net and a 12 inches circumference ball wherein they can hit anywhere around the net.

It looks a little complicated but it’s going to be more fun if you see and play it yourself with the help of the coaches and other teammates.

“I feel so fortunate to have this kind of opportunity thinking that I’m just [a] 1st year college student who takes a sport related course [which] not everybody has or will have the opportunity to be part of something big…”, Coach Shawn Reyes, Roundnet PH Ambassador shares.

Roundnet PH’s annual Summer Spikeball Series recently took place in MWSS Gymnasium, Katipunan Avenue, Quezon City on Sunday, April 9 and is still on going up until June 12.

If you have any interest to be part of the team, anyone is welcome and you can easily inquire to Roundnet Philippines through their Facebook page, @RoundnetPhilippines
