The 67-year-old professional pool player, Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes exits 31st Southeast Asian Games with a bronze medal in men’s 1-cushion carom in Hanoi, Vietnam on Wednesday, May 18, 2022.
Reyes managed to win against Thailand's Suriya Suwannasingh, 65-58 on Monday, May 16 but lost to home bet Tranh Thanh Tu Nguyen with a 100-55 point difference.
In an interview with News 5, Reyes said that this won’t be the last time he’ll join the SEA Games competition because the Philippines doesn’t have a carrom player yet who will represent the country. There should be 2 representatives from each country that’s why he will look and train aspiring players first to replace him.
Reyes has won over 100 international titles to his credit, including being the first player taken prize in the World Pool Association (WPA) Championships during the 90’s.
