The World Health Organization (WHO) warned the Philippines of a possible COVID-19 surge after the 2022 elections on May 9.

There have been a total of 3,683,211 COVID-19 cases in the Philippines and an average of 223 daily new infections as of April 2022, according to The Department of Health (DOH). Conducting super spreader events such as crowded campaign events, and multiple violations of safety protocols are what the experts viewed as the reasons for a COVID-19 surge.

Encouraging people to get their booster shots and following health and safety protocols are being prescribed to avoid the surge.

As of April 18, there are now 145,126 895 COVID-19 vaccines being administered all over the country (Philippines) and 82,630 average daily doses in the last seven days. Bringing the vaccines house to house, on job sites, clinics, and even churches is being implemented to increase the vaccination rates before the election period.
